The Health Care Administration major emphasizes coursework in 公共卫生, health care administration, 业务, health care policy, 和市场营销. This major prepares students for careers or post-graduate work in health care administration, patient services, 公共卫生, health care information technology, regulatory affairs, marketing/sales, and insurance related to the medical and pharmaceutical industries. Potential senior internship projects include experiences working in administrative areas of health care that are coordinated through the CPHS Office of Experiential Education. Senior internship areas of focus include, but are not limited to, health care administration, patient services, 公共卫生, and the insurance industry. 学生 who are interested in more re搜索-oriented careers or continuing on to graduate school may also choose to complete a non-laboratory based re搜索 project.
学生 in the Health Care Administration major who have an interest in pursuing health care law may also consider our dual-degree program with the Drake University Law School. 学生 will utilize their fourth year in Health Sciences to begin completing graduate coursework in the JD program.
With the use of summer school and J-term as well as using graduate course work to fulfill elective requirements, Health Care Administration students are able to complete the four-year degree program plus the Master of Business Administration (MBA) or the Master of Public Administration (MPA) in a shorter time period than if they were to complete the two separately.
